ABSTRACT

For some years now, anti-Jewish attitudes have been on the rise again in liberal democratic societies such as Germany and Italy, where human dignity and respect for dissenters have been declared a recognized principle of social coexistence by the Basic Law and the Constitution. The number of anti-Semitic crimes is rising, resentment is openly turning into hatred, and right-wing populist positions are increasingly coming to the fore. The event aims to provide an up-to-date insight into this contemporary anti-Semitism and also to ask what possibilities there are for action to oppose it.
