The Vigoni Forum has for many years been one of the most prominent events in the annual programme of our German-Italian Centre for the European Dialogue. The Vigoni Forum traditionally takes place in summer, the day before the big open-air concert in the Villa Vigoni’s park. However, this year everything is different: we cannot have the Forum on-site, and we cannot invite you to the concert in the park of the Villa. Nevertheless, we present a digital panel format with speakers of international fame to talk about the topic of “Politics at the time of the pandemic”. The focus is on Italy and Germany, on the experiences of our countries in this difficult phase and the citizens’ expectations of their states and the Union of the Europeans.
In this year’s Forum, Villa Vigoni is being represented by its Italian President, Ambassador Michele Valensise. The panel includes four speakers: Angelo Bolaffi (philosopher, political theorist and Germanist, professor of political philosophy at the Università La Sapienza, director of ICC Berlin, author of many essays and member of the directive committee of Villa Vigoni), Hans Vorländer (professor of theoretical philosophy and history of ideas at the University of Dresden, among the most famous scholars of migration and integration, managing director of Forum of Villa Vigoni), Gertrude Lübbe-Wolff (professor of public law at the University of Bielefeld, judge of the German Constitutional Court, winner of the prestigious Leibniz award) and Eleanor Spaventa (professor of European law at Università Bocconi, legal adviser for the European Parliament and Commission). Introductory greetings by Christiane Liermann-Traniello (General Secretary of Villa Vigoni).
