This international symposium in literary studies, supported by the German Research Foundation, is dedicated to processes of migration in lyric poetry. The symposium will examine how lyrical texts cross linguistic, cultural, discursive or medial boundaries in addition to how functions and semantics, as well as claims of legitimacy and truth, change in the course of these transgressions. This will be done from a constellative perspective: the different conditions, contexts and manifestation of such migration phenomena can be identified, examined and compared on a synchronic and diachronic level on the basis of two threshold periods (around 1300 and around 1800). As a result, the continuities and discontinuities of lyrical forms and traditions, which ultimately elude an ahistorical and transcultural conception of lyric poetry, are brought into view.
