The first conference of "Women on air. Professions and listening in radio and sound media" is dedicated to the kick-off of the project. Radio is in fact a sound medium that has been a daily experience for millions of people for 100 years, in an instantaneous and personal form, and in this history the role of women has been very important. The conference will highlight the female component of the medium's development in four different areas: that of female speakers - behind the microphone -, that of women in positions of power, that of female workers in the studio - between mixers, directors and other technical roles - and that of the more productive and editorial side.
