In collaboration with the mdi ensemble, Villa Vigoni organizes the 2nd NEWMUSIC WEEK, an educational initiative for contemporary music, from 2 to 6 August 2021. The event consists of a five-day workshop with various course offerings and teaching units. The main focus will be on the two master classes:
1. composition and analysis (lecturers: Francesco Filidei, Mauro Lanza)
2. performance practice for solo and chamber instruments on the repertoire of contemporary music (teachers: members of the mdi ensemble)
Following the workshop, two concerts are planned for 7 and 8 August in Milan. The pieces rehearsed in the instrumental and conducting master classes as well as selected works by the participants of the composition course will be performed. The students will perform together with the mdi ensemble.
