Trentino – Alto Adige/Südtirol – Bayern trans-regional project
The project aims to deepen the younger generations’ European consciousness through teaching, by bringing together three classes from Trento (I), Merano/Meran (I) and Sonthofen (Allgäu - D), all in their penultimate year of high school. The project idea, which is supported by the German-Italian Centre for the European Dialogue Villa Vigoni, involves qualified partners who have taken up the challenge of combining their respective strengths and competences to create an ambitious joint project. The synergies between the various partners have been facilitated by the fact that they belong to those regions whose institutions are members of Villa Vigoni. All the project partners share the ideal of a Europe of regions and not only of states.
The project consists of five lessons dealing with historical, legal and political dimensions of the European Union. The lessons will be led by teachers from the three schools and students will explore texts by two university professors, one Italian and one German. The students will then be asked to rework the essential contents of each lesson by creating a short text, a concept map and the definition of keywords on the subject.
Alongside this course, two students from each class will collate the information from each session to publish a “School Notebook”, aided by the Alternanza scuola-lavoro summer course offered by the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK - Trento). These students will also design a digital platform containing useful materials for both teachers and students interested in learning about the European Union in its various dimensions.
The project is offered in both German and Italian, with the final projects being presented in English to allow for the widest possible audience.
The project is running in several phases, from December 2019 to November 2020.
