Kosmos - Entwurf einer physischen Weltbeschreibung is the title of the five-volume work (1845-1862) that can be considered the cultural testament of Alexander von Humboldt. In Kosmos, the author provides an overview of research into the world and, at the same time, a global vision of nature that was innovative and advanced for its time. The conference aims to use Humboldt's work to stimulate discussion on the boundaries of knowledge and on new conceptions of the world. Through discussion between representatives of different disciplines and different methodological approaches, we intend to outline the conceptual horizon in which Kosmos was born in a new way.
The non-profit Italian Association Alexander von Humboldt was founded in 2002 and has its registered office at Villa Vigoni.
