The Ricordi Archive is a cathedral of music, a globally unique work, Luciano Berio
Ricordi is synonymous with great music: the artists promoted by Ricordi over more than two centuries of publishing activity have left their mark on opera, classical and pop music. Today, it is possible to look back through this fascinating and international history by exploring the treasures in its Historical Archive, the most important private music collection in the world, featuring the great artists who left an indelible impression on musical culture, the immortal works of figures such as Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, and the daring experiments of contemporary composers.
The historical Ricordi archive, founded in 1808, was purchased in 1994 by the German multinational Bertelsmann. Its is famous for the great variety of documents it preserves, offering a complete overview of Italian culture, industry and society.
In collaboration with Villa Vigoni (introduction by Viola Usselmann) and supported by the Società d'Incoraggiamento d'Arti e Mestieri, the Managing Director of the Archive, Pierluigi Ledda, will illustrate the building of the famous Ricordi business and explain how music management works today during a workshop for students of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala.
