Since 2003 the three most famous international Liszt-piano-competitions of Budapest, Utrecht and Weimar organize every 3 years a Europe-wide tour with three of their winners: the European Liszt Night Tour (ELNT). The international locations of the concerts are distinguished by their special relationship with the life or the oeuvre of Franz Liszt, or both. In 2018 the ELNT came to Italy for the first time, on lake Como, vis-à-vis to Bellagio, where Liszt passed a few months with the countess Marie d’Agoult, studying Dante’s Divina Commedia whilst waiting for the birth of their daughter Cosima Francesca Gaetana (later on wife of Richard Wagner).
One of the three winners, Alexey Sychev is here playing Liszt’s “La Campanella”, a composition, inspired by a theme of the “devil’s violinist” Paganini.
Alexey Sychev performed at Villa Vigoni during the European Liszt Night Tour in October 2018.
