ABSTRACT

The symposium aims at sharpening the European profile of the research area of law and literature, to reflect on its European dimension and contextualize it. For this purpose, the specifics of European legal and literary culture will be highlighted against the background of the law-and-literature movement of American provenance. The evolving, specifically European understanding of law and of literature is to be brought to resonate in historical depth and in its contribution to a European imaginary with all its fissures and contradictions. Finally, the global orientation and positioning of this European discourse will be addressed.
