Forum Accademico Italiano
in collaboration with Villa Vigoni
The debate about how to handle Covid-19-vaccines is gaining momentum again. In the face of production as well as delivery bottlenecks on the one hand and global demand on the other hand, there are renewed appeals/calls to temporarily lift patent protection on licensed vaccines.
Many decision/policy-makers agree on the urgent necessity to raise the production of the vaccine to stop the worldwide spread of the virus. Dissent, on the other hand, is spreading when it comes to the intellectual property rights.
The availability of, and the access to, medicines bring up ethical questions of social and geopolitical relevance.
