ABSTRACT

The Villa Vigoni Conference will be an opportunity for Italian and German scholars of ancient studies, experts in the field of epigraphy, to gather and discuss the plan and the principles inspiring a new collection of all Greek inscriptions of Italy, and outlining the future prospective for Western Europe. The goal will be to document and realize a new edition in the corpus XIV² of the “Inscriptiones Graecae”, the most important editorial project for Greek Epigraphy. The number of these inscriptions is estimated to be around 5000, many of them still unpublished.
The corpus, which will appear in several volumes, both in printed and digital form, will promote the progress of future research in all fields of Ancient Studies.
