The 2019 edition of the Euro Seminar will take place in turbulent times. Geopolitical developments – China’s expansion, trade wars, and growth worries – will aggravate European problems. These stem mostly from populist reactions to job fears and led to Brexit, and other challenges amongst them governance problems between Italy and “Brussels”. In addition, elections to the European Parliament may result in a prolonged search for a new leadership in the European Union.
Participants of the Seminar are invited to ponder these issues and ways to deal with them. Among the topics will figure the euro area’s stability, particularly in light of the vulnerability of European banks to sovereign debt issues. In addition, participants might wish to discuss the challenges for European banks resulting from global developments.
