ABSTRACT
Under the guiding theme “Building Block for Europe: Italy in the Focus of German-Language Education”, representatives of German-language Italian Studies, Italian Germanists and representatives of other humanities and social science subjects will examine challenges and fields of action that can be useful for the consolidation of German-Italian relations. These include the understanding of science and the arts, forms of cultural exchange, cultural historicity and the relations between plurality and identity. In the spirit of the current annual theme of the Villa Vigoni, German-Italian relations shall also be considered in a European dimension.
The interdisciplinary colloquium frames the publication of the manual for Italian Studies (Handbuch Italienisch. Sprache - Literatur – Kultur, Erich Schmidt Verlag, Berlin), which brings together the disciplines that constitute Italian Studies, links them with other subjects in the humanities and social sciences and thus complies with the responsibility of German-language education to convey a differentiated and sustainable image of Italy.
