ABSTRACT
During the last 20 to 30 years research of cell death mechanisms has been influenced enormously by European scientists. Therefore, there is a great number of conferences which focus on apoptosis and cell death mechanisms. They are however mainly pertaining to basic research. In contrast to the “big conferences” the Villa Vigoni Cell Death Meetings try to create a familiar, seminar-based atmosphere with approximately 30 participants. Their aim is to have mutual exchange of scientific research results and to continue common projects.
These cell death meetings at Villa Vigoni take place for many years.
SUMMARY
Also this year, the Cell Death Meeting at Villa Vigoni with 26 participants and speakers was a great success. A broad spectrum of research areas and scientific work on the role and mechanisms of cell death was given. The spectrum included basic research as well as translational research in medicine with impact on diseases such as cancer and treatment of patients. The participating scientists, coming from Italy, Switzerland and Germany, exchanged their views and results in intensive discussions, whereas common projects were also developed further.
The next symposium will again take place at Villa Vigoni from 24 to 27 June 2020.
