Villa Vigoni is keen to consolidate its role as a European centre for dialogue between science and culture. With this in mind, in 2025 the institution hosts two major initiatives in collaboration with the University of the Saarland.
From 22 to 26 September 2025, the first CURE International Summer School focuses on the theme “Dynamics of Despair”. This is followed by the fifth edition of the Exzellenzlabor Europa, held from 8 to 11 October 2025 under the title “European Inequalities across Borders: Dividing and Integrating Processes.”
The CURE – Käte Hamburger Kolleg for Cultural Practices of Reparation, directed by Professors Christine Solte-Gresser and Markus Messling, aims to confirm Saarland as a hub of excellence in the humanities and to promote Saarbrücken as an international reference point for research on cultural practices of reparation.
The cooperation with Villa Vigoni underlines the importance of transnational spaces for scientific exchange and interdisciplinary understanding among European researchers.
For further information, see the article “What the Käte Hamburger Kolleg is planning for next year”, published in the Saarbrücker Zeitung on 20 October 2025.
