The binational call for proposals offers academics from both countries the opportunity to discuss current academic issues relating to European culture, history and society as part of a conference at Villa Vigoni (colloquia, seminars for doctoral and post-doctoral students or ‘close reading’ symposia).

In accordance with Villa Vigoni's mission, the conferences are intended to promote ‘German-Italian relations in research, education and culture in the European spirit’ and in particular to facilitate encounters between young researchers.
The working languages are Italian and/or German and/or English.

The programme is conceived and organised by Villa Vigoni in cooperation with the German Research Foundation (DFG). The tender is published every year in September and the deadline for applications is in December.

The 2025 call for proposals under the programme to promote German-Italian cooperation in the humanities and social sciences, which Villa Vigoni launches every year with the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG) ended on 1 December 2025.
The results of the call for proposal 2025 are going to be announced in autumn 2026.
