Sustainability, creativity and development are Villa Vigoni’s Focus of the Year 2019. These are the key words with which we wish to pay tribute to the founding father of Villa Vigoni, Enrico Mylius (1769-1854), in the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of his birth. Sustainability, creativity and development: these are the guiding principles of the life and actions of an extraordinary man, who in repeated shifts between Italy and Germany never stopped building bridges in the fields of politics, culture and economics. Today, Enrico’s convictions take on a particular meaning. Italy, Germany and Europe as a whole have become aware of how sustainable political visions are essential to progress. It is now recognised that a creative and innovative spirit, in favour of development, is able to reconcile individual freedoms and the common good in our societies. The combination of sustainability, creativity and development is the ideal framework for a fruitful debate for the Vigoni Forum this year.
