The reception of the epic hero saga in Italy, which began in the 19th century and was significantly influenced by the success of Wagner’s musical works, has largely been overlooked. The Villa Vigoni colloquium aims to provide a more detailed examination of the historical and geographical dissemination of the Nibelungenlied in Italy.
