The notion of Bestimmung (Latin: determinatio, destinatio, vocatio) is central to Kant’s philosophy. Kant examines this concept in various contexts, but without sufficiently clarifying all of its relevant implications. Through dialogue with Italian Kant scholars and their translation work, the conference aims to highlight the complexity of this notion and to reveal Kant’s contribution to the German adaptation of the Latin concepts within the philosophy of Enlightenment.
