Metadiscourses and counter-discourses on ‘x-washing’ in the context of sustainable development

Within the framework of the German-Italian cooperation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft – Villa Vigoni).

Since the 2030 Agenda, sustainability has been a binding European programme for politics, business and society. However, criticism of corporate greenwashing shows that the concept could often be about ‘more appearance than reality’: In the colloquium, we will deal, a.o., with critical x-washing meta-discourses. In terms of discourse linguistics, we focus on redistributions of knowledge and power, interculturally and intersectionally on the comparison of domains and cultures in order to contribute to socially relevant and socially critical Applied Linguistics.
