Rome offers an exceptional case of knowledge and cultural transfer: from the 3rd century BCE onward, Greek culture was not only extensively received but this descent was deliberately emphasized. This reflects a view deeply anchored in Roman culture of transfer and integration processes as productive drivers of growth. This is particularly evident in literature, which was introduced to Rome as a translation of the Greek literary system.

In recent decades, knowledge about the Greek side has expanded considerably, shedding new methodological light on cultural transfer and offering answers to a number of unresolved questions. The colloquium took stock of developments in the field over the past 25 years and explored perspectives for future research.
