Demographic change is one of the megatrends of our time. Europe’s societies are ageing, shrinking and becoming more diverse, a trend that will intensify in the coming decades and lead to unprecedented challenges in terms of regional development, skills shortages, social cohesion and intergenerational relations. The aim of this conference is to bring together a select group of eminent decision-makers from academia, politics, civil society and the private sector to discuss possible future scenarios of population change in Europe in the coming decades in the special working atmosphere of Villa Vigoni. Based on the latest research findings, this dialogue will address potential political, social and economic challenges and necessary policy approaches in the medium and long term.
