Demographic change is one of the defining megatrends of our time. Europe’s societies are ageing, shrinking and becoming increasingly diverse, a trend that will intensify in the coming decades and lead to unprecedented challenges in terms of regional development, labour markets, social cohesion and intergenerational relations. The aim of this conference is to bring together a select group of distinguished decision-makers from academia, politics, civil society, and the private sector to discuss possible future scenarios of population change in Europe in the coming decades in the special working atmosphere of Villa Vigoni. Based on the latest research findings, this dialogue will address potential political, social and economic challenges and identify medium- and long-term policy approaches to strengthen social cohesion and resilience across European societies.
