The trilateral research project Fabricating Modern Economics (FAME) addresses the transnationalization of economics from the interwar period to 1989. While before World War II there were still significant differences between national styles of economic thought, the period after 1945 was characterized by an increasing process of transnationalization/Americanization. This affected France, Germany, and Italy equally. However, there were also some differences in the diffusion process and the transmission channels of economic knowledge. The aim of the project is to conduct a comparative analysis of the different dimensions of this process for the three phases 1918–45, 1945–68, and 1968–89.
