This project was devoted to the nature and development of German-Italian relations within the institutional framework of the EU from a social science perspective.
The particular focus of the pre- and post-doctoral colloquium was on the three major crises –  the euro crisis, the refugee crisis, and the Covid-19 crisis – to which Italy, Germany, and the rest of Europe have recently been exposed. The aim of the colloquium was to compare and contrast the handling of these crises from the perspective of each country in order to highlight the impact of the crises on political, economic, social, as well as inter- and transnational relations between Italy and Germany, taking into account the European context.
