The meeting explores the archaeology of rural landscapes and non urban settlements in the Roman age. It examines how settlements, road systems, and agriculture shaped rural regions in coastal and inland areas, including production, storage, and trade. Key questions include how regions without cities functioned, how infrastructure was organized, how agriculture interacted with rural life, and what happened to abandoned cities and their surrounding landscapes.
