“New Nations – New National Stereotypes: Lessons from WWI to overcome national stereotypes in the EU – EUImage” is a project whose purpose is to overcome national stereotypes in the European Union through the lessons learned from the First World War.
In fact, many of the ways of thinking and stereotypes related to the different European countries are the result of propaganda actions, used to justify the need for war and the acceptance of violence and discrimination.
To promote reflection on national stereotypes, 100 years after the end of the First World War, EUImage aims to analyse the still existing stereotypes and how they were created or reinforced by propaganda during the First World War.
EUImage is co-financed by the Europe for Citizens Programme – European Remembrance of the European Union.
Villa Vigoni is partner of the project together with the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo (Italy), the Università degli Studi di Trieste (Italy), the Università “La Sapienza” di Roma (Italy), the University of Kaunas (Lithuania), Art Kontakt (Albania) and the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany).
