This week, Villa Vigoni hosts the workshop “The Economic Worlds of Early Medieval Polities: A Material Culture Approach – Using Heterarchy to Rethink Exchange and Power”, designed for archaeology students from the University of Bonn.
The programme includes short presentations, group work, and round-table discussions. The concept of heterarchy forms the core of the seminar and serves as a tool to reinterpret the economic and political structures of the Early Middle Ages. Participants will discuss topics such as connectivity, forms of exchange, and power relations through the analysis of concrete case studies.
