On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Italy, Villa Vigoni provides a variety of materials and initiatives to document, to reflect upon and to deepen our knowledge of so called nazi-fascism:
- Webdoc “Fascist Past”: This project was financed by the German-Italian Fund for the Future. It analyzes how Italian broadcasting has depicted the experience of living under the fascist and nazi regimes across70 years of Italian history.
- Episode of the “European Dialogue” on the massacre of the Ardeatine Caves: This episode with the historian and journalist Michela Ponzani delves deeper into the context and the dynamics of this tragic event.
- Report of the German-Italian historians’ commission: Joint research on the German-Italian wartime past. The report focuses on the fate of former Italian military internees and offers recommendations for the creation of a common culture of remembrance.
- Young Vigoni Talk “On the Significance of our Totalitarian Past 80 years after the War”: The 8th May of marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. We look back on history together and discuss the significance of remembering the totalitarian and dictatorial past in Germany and Italy today. What forms of remembrance are now appropriate, and how relevant is the past in the present day?
