Mariano Rumor, l'integrazione europea e la distensione

Francesca Zilio, researcher at Villa Vigoni, is the author of the book “Unirsi e non restare spettatori di ciò che accade nel mondo: Mariano Rumor, l’integrazione europea e la distensione”, published by Editrice Apes and with a preface by Professor Francesco Malgeri.

Rumor has been Italian prime minister and Foreign Policy minister more than once and he was the president of the European Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Democrat International.

Through research into his personal archives, the study reconstructs Rumor’s role as the leader of the European Christian Democratic Union aiming at promoting the realisation of the European political unity.

A relevant part of the research concerns the Ostpolitik, which German Christian-democrats brought to the heart of the debate with their fellow parties hoping that their governments would not approve the policy of the Brandt administration.
